Your Action Plan For Launching A Profitable Design Intensive Offer
Transform Your Services into High-Impact, High-Profit Offers
Find and Fix the Bottlenecks in Your Design Business
Step One:
Where are you getting stuck or finding pain points in your current process? Are timelines going over? Payments delayed? Clients getting stuck with homework? Scope of work creepin’? Ghosting inquiries?
Identify where things are getting missed and where boundaries are often being crossed. Create a list of your NEW set of life & business boundaries. (Pro tip: keep a list of these boundaries somewhere you can see them as a reminder)
Then, be sure to implement these boundaries across your entire process—from your sales page to contracts and reminder emails. This way, nothing slips through the cracks, and you won't feel awkward reminding clients of your limits.
Create Your Design Intensive Offer & Offer Suite
Step Two:
A design intensive works best when it doesn’t compete with your other offers. If you already have a branding package, you might not want to offer a branding intensive because too many options can create confusion for your clients.
It’s important to create a design intensive that fits seamlessly with your other services. Think of an intro-level offer, a mid-range offer, and your high-ticket offer and have them all work together so that your client knows where to start and where to end.
When creating your design intensive offer you will need to figure out:
- What is included
- Who it's for
- Pricing
- How many you will offer
- What your clients need to do to prepare
- How it’s delivered
Build and Automate Your Client Process
Step Three:
Once you have your offer, it’s time to build out your process and create a complete system—from inquiry to payment, onboarding, prep work, the kickoff call, file delivery, and offboarding.
Your process should be something that is easy for you to rinse and repeat with every client so that when you get an inquiry all the way to the delivery and offboarding...the process is dialed in.
You can automate some of the steps by having auto responder emails, workflows, email templates, a project proposal that you can repeat for every client, and communication scripts that you can copy and paste so you aren’t wasting time thinking of what to say.
Develop a Sales Page to Easily Sell Your New Offer
Step Four:
A design intensive is not a typical way of offering design services so having a dedicated sales page for your service will help you explain everything your client needs to know so that you can limit questions, avoid discovery calls, custom proposals, and get inquiries that are qualified much faster.
This sales page is going to help you sell with more ease! The best tip: Your sales page should answer the questions your client has going through their head as they land on your website and are curious about working with you.
Questions like:
- What is this?
- Is this right for me?
- What do I get?
- What do I need to do?
- How much does this cost?
- Why should I do this service instead of someone else’s?
- Is this person credible?
- Will they be able to deliver?
- Am I the right person for this?
- Am I ready?
Deliver Your Design Intensive & Be Prepared
Step Five:
Now that your offer is out in the world, you are likely ready to actually deliver your offer to a new client. How can you be prepared for a design intensive? Knowing exactly what you can complete in a day, utilizing templates so you aren’t starting from scratch, understanding what your capabilities and limits are—these things are really important to know before your day begins.
Pro Tip: Under-promise and over-deliver. Tell your client you may not be able to get to all of their requests, but then surprise them with extra!
How to know what your capabilities are? Beta test that ish baby! Start by offering design intensives to your CURRENT clients so you have a bit more room to grow.
Master Marketing and Book Your Client
Step Six:
Now that you’ve got everything all set up and ready to go...it’s time to book out your new design intensive offer!
Start off by working with someone you know and trust to help you get your offer off the ground, once you start delivering your intensive for your clients you can share the results as a way to market your new offer.
Marketing your offer: Use Instagram stories of your process, showcase your capabilities of what you’ve completed in the intensive, share your process, what is included, testimonials—these are all ways to gain traction and interest in your new offer.
Referrals are my #1 way to get more clients, so ensuring you deliver your intensive and WOW your clients every step of the way is the best way to continue to get more inquiries and book out your days in advance.
